Álvaro Siza’s Saya Park

ree

In South Korea’s forested hills, architects Álvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura designed the Saya Park pavilion, a work that blends architecture with the landscape. Built in exposed concrete, the structure gently follows the natural slope of the site. As visitors walk through, they move along subtle level changes shaped by the hillside, making the journey part of the experience.

Light enters through carefully framed openings, revealing the forest from shifting perspectives. The design transforms the act of walking into a meditation on space, material, and nature.

Inspired by this dialogue between form and topography, we created the Saya Ring—a wearable sculpture that echoes the pavilion’s balance of solidity and flow.
